Intended use:

The test detects beef (Bos taurus), sheep (Ovis aries) and goat (Capra hircus) DNA. Each reaction contains an internal amplification control and an internal detection assay for vertebrates DNA (IAAC).

• Test format: 100 reactions


• Sample preparation: For DNA-preparation the use of SureFood® PREP Basic and for highly processed food and feed the use of SureFood® PREP Advanced is recommended.


• LOD (Detection limit): The SureFood® ANIMAL ID 4plex Beef/Sheep/Goat+IAAC real-time PCR is developed for the detection of beef, sheep and goat DNA in muscle meat mixture at a relative amount of 0.1 %. The assay limit of detection depends on sample matrix, processing grade, DNA preparation and DNA content.


• Cross reactivity:

  Cross reactivity was observed in the detection system for sheep (Cy5 channel) with DNA extracts from springbok (Antidorcas marsupialis) with 6 %.

General Information:

The real-time PCR assay can be performed with commonly used real-time PCR instruments, equipped for detection of four fluorescence emissions at the channels FAM, VIC/HEX, ROX and Cy5 at the same time. The technical validation of instruments was performed on Agilent AriaDx, Bio-Rad CFX96 Dx, R-Biopharm RIDA®CYCLER, Roche LightCycler® 480 II and Qiagen Rotor-Gene Q.
