General Information:

Clenbuterol belongs to the group of ß-agonists. It has been known that ß-agonists are suitable for use as performance improvers within the field of livestock production. In particular, the meat/fat ratio in fattened animals can be improved or the growth accelerated. However, such compounds have not been authorized as fattening adjuvants up to now. In addition to its lipolytic and anabolic effect, clenbuterol has a relaxing effect on non-striated musculature, on which its therapeutic employment as an antiasthmatic and a tocolytic agent is based. In comparison to therapeutic use clenbuterol is administered at 5 to 10 time’s higher dosages, when employed as a fattening adjuvant. Therefore, it is possible that clenbuterol residues, after use in illegal practice, may lead to a risk for consumers.

Benefits:

  • Direct use of milk, urine and plasma/ serum samples in the test without sample preparation.
  • Less pipetting through functionalized microtiter plate.
  • No cross reactivity to other relevant ß-agonists such as ractopamine or zilpaterol.
